Bualo Network Admin Tools for NAS (BN-ADT/NAS) User Manual

Step 1 Scan for New Devices

After BN-ADT/NAS is installed, click Tools - Scan for New Devices to preform an initial

scan for network devices. After a short time elapses, the devices connected to the

network are detected.

Notes:

• Only the Bualo NAS devices in the same broadcast domain as the computer

with BN-ADT/NAS installed can be managed. To scan for devices on networks

outside the router or layer 3 switch, select Tools - Specify IP Address Range and

Scan. Scanning can take considerable time, and some devices may be unable to

be detected.

• If Tools - Autoscan Periodically is enabled, a scan is performed periodically for

devices that were added or removed.

• Incompatible devices and rmware versions may cause scanning to take a long,

long time.

• The scanning progress can be checked using the Log Window (page 12) and the

progress bar at the bottom right of the window.

• Scan for New Devices also scans for new devices in the broadcast domain in

addition to devices that are already registered in the database.

• Refresh the Status reacquires information from devices registered in the database.
